Dear Galloway Community,
Perhaps you have heard that this school year will be my last at Galloway. While I am excited for my journey ahead, there is a big part of me that is very sad to see this chapter of my career close. There has not been a day that I have not felt grateful for the community in which I work, and I will savor this school more than ever in the coming months. There is much to achieve over the next year, and I am as committed today as I was many years ago to furthering our mission through our daily work.
When I took over the reins of the headship in June 2012, the priorities were clear. We needed to successfully market "The Galloway Way" in our community and beyond and attract the best fit families to the school. Additionally, there were priorities around teacher excellence and articulation of our paedagogical framework. Thanks to the hard work and commitment of our staff, faculty and families, we formalised "The Galloway Way" as 4D Learning and have successfully communicated that our school is the best place in Atlanta for young people to receive personalised, student-centered, authentic instruction. Together we have seen countless additional accomplishments over the years, and we are poised to achieve so much more.
I tell everyone I meet that this is an incredibly joyful school, where faculty go about their work wholly within the spirit of the profession; where students are curious, inquisitive members of the community; and where we find opportunities to learn in unusual settings. These hallmarks of The Galloway School will sustain the school far into the future.
I so look forward to supporting our community in identifying the next Head of School. I will be the first to tell any candidate just what a fabulous community this is and what a tremendous opportunity it is for any Head of School. Most importantly, I will be on hand to ensure the smoothest transition possible for our community.
And now, back to work! There is plenty to press on with!
Head of School
