Afterschool Enrichment classes are offered so Galloway students can go beyond their school day with a fun variety of arts, sports and more.

MON.

Mondays

PreK & Kindergarten Hip Hop

This high energy class explores rhythm and musicality with current kid-friendly music. The students learn hip hop dance through fun games, activities, and dance routines. It enhances balance, spatial awareness, flexibility, and cardio endurance. This class promotes body awareness, coordination, and self-confidence Led by Erik Brown of Endigo Studios.  

Soccer Einsteins
K-3rd, 3-4 p.m. -- $250, min 6, max 12

The soccer program is dedicated to creating a safe, positive, and fun environment where children learn to love, enjoy, and succeed at the game of soccer. This is accomplished through a balanced curriculum of fun games and challenging experiences taught by licensed coaches who take their leadership roles very seriously.

RoboTech: Coding, Stop Motion, Maker Space, Robotics & Computer Science.
2nd-4th, 3-4 p.m. -- $275, min 6, max 12

This wide ranging class will include new exciting projects each week where the students will be working with Robotics, Computer Hardware, Stop Motion Video, Boost Robots, Coding and simple machines like roller conveyors and other geared contraptions. Students will also be using Lego Mindstorm NXTs. Students will get a great taste for coding, video production, physics, and mechanical engineering in this popular new class!

Kids TV (Mondays) (Aug. 19 - Nov. 18)

During this 11 week film making class, students work with professional filmmakers to learn the basics of film making. After undergoing special training on camera, lighting, and producing, the class will work as a production team to produce an original short film, TV show, or music video! Along with gaining technical and film crew experience, class members will strengthen their team work and artistic skills in order to produce films and projects. The final video will debut at a special screening for friends and family on the last day of class.

PreK & Kindergarten Sprouting Scientists

Curious little explorers conduct simple, safe, science and nature experiments in the comfort of the school they already know. Held once a week the children will learn basic scientific principles while having fun with hands-on activities.  The children bring the curiosity, we'll provide everything else: This is active and interactive science lesson, so children may get messy - lab coats and safety glasses will be worn. In addition to the “word of the day,” children will become familiar with words and concepts such as chemistry, physics, astronomy, biology, botany, oceanography, geology, engineering and more.

Bricks 4 Kidz

Calling all Master Builders! Bricks4Kidz Master Builders LEGO Clubs is back at Galloway!
Come join us in building jaw-dropping, awesome and head-spinning LEGO models! In this club, children will use our signature “Project 1 Kit” to build the most complex of our over 1,000 different proprietary motorized models from our over 200 unit-themes. Kids will learn about important S.T.E.A.M. concepts and gain critical creative, cognitive, social and emotional learning skills through the power of LEGO building and hands-on problem solving. Through exploring their imaginations, creativity, and pushing themselves to build more challenging models each week, the students will gain confidence, curiosity and understanding in science, technology, engineering and math! This semester comes with a twist! We will introduce our "Master Builders" to our Star Wars, Ninjago, and other popular themes that are sure to bring their wildest dreams to life!  Each child takes home a mini-figure at the end!

Advanced Mixed Media Art Exploration for ML
5th-8th, 3-4 p.m. -- $350 – min 6, max 14

A lively and engaging approach to art! In each class, students create elements to use towards 3-D art projects: a 3-D Art Canvas Paintings and a 3-D hand made paper "My Favorite Things Personal Journal. In each class students incorporate multi-mediums including painting with acrylics, sculpting miniature food and candy with polymer clay, pastel drawings, photo of favorite pet, water color paintings and collages.Your student will bring home several creative art pieces.

A fantastic group of teachers helps to make chess fun and interactive for each student, regardless of his or her level of experience. Playing chess has proven to help students enhance creativity, improve concentration, develop and expand critical thinking skills, and boost academic performance.

Parkour & Tumbling

This high energy class uses gymnastics apparatus to safely learn tumbling and parkour. The students will run, jump, flip and climb in this dynamic tumbling class. This will enhance speed, agility, strength and flexibility.  Led by Erik Brown of Endigo Studios.

Pottery Plus

Explore hand building, sculpture, slab, coiling, pinching, and scoring. Each artist will complete several glazed masterpieces, while enjoying creative experimentation and personal expression through guided projects, while enhancing sensory development and motor skills. In addition, this fall we'll also be working with other sculpture material as well to create even more fun masterpieces!

if you love ART & ANIMALS.... come hang out with TheArtBarn Crew on Thursdays! Each week we will meet a different barnyard buddy along with some of our crazy cool creature feature friends.  We will read a story about them. Have lots of hands on time with them and then create a super cool piece of art using them as our models.  We will work with drawing, painting, clay, and mixed media to whip up some master pieces.  We will meet Farmer Sue's barnyard family all of which are clean, friendly and kid safe!  Just to name a few: Pickles the pig, Vera Bradley the barred rock hen, Fire our Rooster, chicks n eggs for sure, Ducks, Toby the bunny, Shadow & Maggie our goats, Cecil, Sam & Buddy our sheep, Strawberry the miniature horse and some of our new crazy cool insect, turtles and reptile friends. (nothing creepy icky or dangerous - farmer sue is into cool not creepy)

Minecraft Exploration Club
2nd-6th, 3-4:30 p.m. -- $330, min 10, max 24

New challenges this Winter for returning students and newcomers! Minecraft is more than chasing Creepers around. Join Galloway's EL Librarian Steve Bartle to create, explore, and put your problem-solving skills to the test. The class is designed to help students learn and improve their building skills using the creative side of Minecraft. Students will collaborate together while solving project-based activities. We will focus on developing the camper's understanding of Redstone, game design, adventure maps and much more. Please note, new and returning students are welcome to join this session. We will be using a new version of Minecraft, which will lead to new and exciting activities. 

Beginning Fencing
1st-6th, 3-4 p.m. -- $299 – min 6, max 14

Through this program, students will learn about this Olympic sport that requires quickness, strength and tactics. Your child will learn basic fencing footwork, participate in skill building fencing drills, bout with classmates, and improve their overall fitness level. All necessary fencing equipment is provided, including all required safety gear.

Break Into Business Class

Join us to launch a real business this semester! Break Into Business is an organization that coaches young people to launch real businesses. We are excited to bring our Startup Club program to Galloway after seeing so many successful Galloway entrepreneurs in our summer business camps. Over 12 sessions, our entrepreneurs will work in small teams to perform focused sprints on idea generation, market research, brand creation, promotional strategy, budgeting, pitching and, finally, going to market! Entrepreneurs will donate 10% of profit then split the rest to take home. We are excited to partner with our friends at Booster (a school fundraising company launched in Atlanta) who will be providing a dynamic coach for this program.

Outdoor Explorers with Blue Heron Nature Center

Come explore with us! Through a series of outdoor explorations on campus and in Chastain Park, children will learn about the natural environment and further develop their appreciation for nature and urban wildlife. Join with the Staff from the Blue Heron Nature Preserve to spend time outside exploring and discovering the nature around Galloway through hands-on activities.

7th Grade Cotillion
7th grade, 3-4:30 p.m. -- $175, min 20, max 40

Come join us! The Galloway Cotillion is a six week program focusing on dance and manners for 7th graders at Galloway. Each week students will learn dances such as the waltz, fox trot, swing, shag, and freestyle. We'll also spend time talking about things young adults need to know like handshakes, party etiquette, buffet manners, and telephone etiquette. Our program culminates with a student-parent social so parents can see what their children have learned. We hope you can join us. Class this year will be from 3:00pm - 4:30 pm on 9/6, 9/13, 9/20, 9/27, 10/4, & 10/18

Middle Learning Directed Study (MLDS) (Monday-Thursdays)
5th-8th, 3-4pm, min 4, max 6

Galloway Middle Learning Directed Study (MLDS) provides group tutoring and time management assistance for Galloway middle learning students. These sessions are designed to help students with current schoolwork and upcoming assignments. Students can expect to meet weekly with Lordserious Watson to address scholastic progress through expert tutelage and customized action plans. These action plans include study schedules, prioritizing assignments, tutoring, and more. Mr. Watson will also teach and emphasize proven study habits and problem-solving skills. He is a professional educator, Alumnus of Galloway and Georgia Tech, and has been working with Galloway students for 10 years. Slots are limited to a minimum of 4 students each and a maximum of 6 to insure that each child receives plenty of personal attention.

Once you register, the instructor will be in touch with you via email to confirm a time for your student in their schedule. Lessons will begin the week of August 19 or 26 depending on the teacher. If an agreeable time can not be found, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded to your credit card.
