Afterschool Enrichment classes are offered so Galloway students can go beyond their school day with a fun variety of arts, sports and more.

The Power of Engineering

Our dynamic engineers will power and propel vortex cannons, potato launchers and Newton's cars using many fun principals of engineering. We'll build bridges and geodesic domes and solve a variety of engineering challenges. All students will learn the basic principals and tenets of engineering.

Kids TV

During this 10 week film making class, students work with professional filmmakers to learn the basics of film making. After undergoing special training on camera, lighting, and producing, the class will work as a production team to produce an original short film, TV show, or music video! Along with gaining technical and film crew experience, class members will strengthen their team work and artistic skills in order to produce films and projects. The final video will debut at a special screening for friends and family on the last day of class.

Beginning Fencing

Through this program, students will learn about this Olympic sport that requires quickness, strength and tactics. Your child will learn basic fencing footwork, participate in skill building fencing drills, bout with classmates, and improve their overall fitness level. Start Code: Intermediate Coding for ML Students

Start Code offers a variety of programing projects for students of all skill levels. Each week, students work in individual projects using Scratch, an easy to learn programing tool created by MIT Media Lab. Students can create a unique game in a fun environment. Many of the fundamental coding concepts learned in Scratch are transferable to advanced programing languages. In addition to Scratch, students will explore languages such as Python or Java.

Exploring Drama (PreK)

Pottery Plus

Explore hand building, sculpture, slab, coiling, pinching, and scoring. Each artist will complete several glazed masterpieces, while enjoying creative experimentation and personal expression through guided projects, while enhancing sensory development and motor skills. The Art Barn

If you love ART & ANIMALS...come hang out with The Art Barn Crew on Thursdays! Each week we will meet a different barnyard buddy along with some of our crazy cool creature feature friends. We will read a story about them, have lots of hands-on time with them and then create a super cool piece of art using them as our models. We will work with drawing, painting, clay, and mixed media to whip up some masterpieces. We will meet Farmer Sue's barnyard family all of which are clean, friendly and kid safe! Just to name a few: Pickles the Pig, Vera Bradley the Barred Rock Hen, Fire our rooster, chicks 'n eggs for sure, ducks, Toby the Bunny, Shadow & Maggie our goats, Cecil, Sam & Buddy our sheep, Strawberry the miniature horse and some of our new crazy cool insect, turtle and reptile friends (nothing creepy icky or dangerous -- Farmer Sue is into cool, not creepy.)

Minecraft Exploration Club

New challenges this spring for returning students and newcomers! Minecraft is more than chasing Creepers around. Join Galloway's EL Librarian Steve Bartle to create, explore, and put your problem-solving skills to the test. The class is designed to help students learn and improve their building skills using the creative side of Minecraft. Students will collaborate together while solving project-based activities. We will focus on developing the camper's understanding of Redstone, game design, adventure maps and much more. Please note, new and returning students are welcome to join this session. We will be using a new version of Minecraft, which will lead to new and exciting activities.

We will spend part of the term doing advanced pottery projects and part of the term painting on canvas with acrylic. The children will finish several masterpieces including an impressionistic painting, as well as an abstract. Your child does not need to be able to draw well to find success in this class. The focus is to introduce each child to the joy of painting and mixing colors. Be prepared to be amazed by your children’s art!

7th Grade Cotillion (Fridays)
7th grade, 3-5 p.m. -- $165, min 20, max 40

Come join us! The Galloway Cotillion is a five week program focusing on dance and manners for 7th graders at Galloway. Each week students will learn dances such as the waltz, fox trot, swing, shag, and freestyle. We'll also spend time talking about things young adults need to know like handshakes, party etiquette, buffet manners, and telephone etiquette. Our program culminates with a student-parent social so parents can see what their children have learned. We hope you can join us. Class this year will be from 3:00pm - 5:00 pm on 9/14, 9/21, 9/28, 10/19, and 10/26.

Middle Learning Directed Study (MLDS) (Monday-Thursdays)
5th-8th, 3-4pm, min 4, max 6

Galloway Middle Learning Directed Study (MLDS) provides group tutoring and time management assistance for Galloway middle learning students. These sessions are designed to help students with current schoolwork and upcoming assignments. Students can expect to meet weekly with Lordserious Watson to address scholastic progress through expert tutelage and customized action plans. These action plans include study schedules, prioritizing assignments, tutoring, and more. Mr. Watson will also teach and emphasize proven study habits and problem-solving skills. He is a professional educator, Alumnus of Galloway and Georgia Tech, and has been working with Galloway students for 10 years. Slots are limited to a minimum of 4 students each and a maximum of 6 to insure that each child receives plenty of personal attention.

Sessions will begin on the week of August 27 and will end on the week of Dec. 10.

Afterschool Arts Lessons at Galloway

The First session of music lessons begins in August of 2018. If you would like to check availability with specific teachers, or a specific teacher, please email Jim Hilleary @ jhilleary@gallowayschool.org

Register for the instructor and amount of time you would like. Once you register, the instructor will be in touch with you via email to confirm a time for your student in their schedule. Lessons will begin the week of August 20. If an agreeable time can not be found, 100% of the registration fee will be refunded to your credit card.
