Financial Assistance

The Galloway School is committed to admitting qualified students regardless of a family's ability to pay the full cost of tuition. Galloway awarded more than $2.0 million in financial assistance to 15% of our students in grades K-12 for the 2019-20 school year. There are a wide range of families who qualify, from those who can afford only minimal tuition to those who can afford almost full tuition. Family annual incomes of up to $200,000+ may qualify for financial assistance consideration, and awards range from $1,800 to $27,700.

Philosophy Statement

The purpose of financial assistance is to enhance and enrich the Galloway community and educational experience by financially supporting students who are particularly well suited for Galloway and who are challenged to attend due to financial limitations. Financial assistance supports Galloway's commitment to inclusiveness as articulated in the school's Diversity Policy Statement. All of our financial assistance awards are based on demonstrated need which is the calculated difference between the amount a family can be expected to contribute to the cost of their student’s education and the amount of annual tuition. We do not provide scholarships for academic, athletic, or artistic merit.

Financial Assistance Process

Galloway uses School and Student Services (SSS), sponsored by Community Brands, to process financial assistance applications. SSS calculates an estimated amount a family can contribute to educational expenses, which is used as a starting point in making fair and objective financial decisions. To be eligible for consideration for financial assistance, families must complete the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS) and must supply all requested information and supporting documentation by the deadline. The PFS and required documents can be submitted anytime after October 2, 2019. Families must apply for assistance annually.

Tax Forms Required/Deadlines

For the 2020-21 year, the PFS and supporting schedules (2018 1040s, W2s, K-1s, business returns, mortgage statements, etc.) are due no later than February 17, 2020. All 2019 returns and supporting schedules must be uploaded by May 1, 2020 if enrolling at Galloway. All families that report income from an S-Corp or Partnership must furnish a copy of all K-1s. All parents who hold at least a 25% share in an S-Corp, Partnership or Farm must provide a copy of their business tax return, including all schedules.

Returning Families

Please note the following three significant changes to the 2020-21 financial assistance application process for current families:

  1. In order to communicate awards earlier, we will be using 2018 tax documents to determine financial assistance for the 2020-21 academic year. We will still require 2019 tax returns and W-2s, however, the deadline for uploading them will be May 1, 2020. Moving forward, we will be using PRIOR year taxes in determining financial assistance. For example, for the 2021-22 academic year, we will use the 2019 tax documents that you uploaded on May 1, 2020 to determine financial assistance.
  2. Because we are using 2018 tax documents in making awards, we are adjusting the deadline for PFS (Personal Financial Statement) submission for returning families to November 18, 2019. You will receive your financial assistance award for the 2020-21 school year at the time of re-enrollment for your current student(s) on February 3, 2020 instead of April 3, 2020
  3. Your award to the 2020-21 academic year may be reduced or withdrawn if your account is not current on May 1, 2020.
If you have previously received financial assistance...
  1. Please click here to access the online School & Student Services (SSS) application.
The 2020-21 PFS opens on October 2, 2019. For assistance:
    • Email SSS Help Desk For Parents: sss@communitybrands.com
    • Call 800-344-8328
    • Click on this link to directly access SSS resources online
  2. You must log back into your existing account for your 2018 tax documents to transfer to the 2019 PFS. Please do not create a new SSS account. By using your existing account, we can directly access the 2018 tax returns that you uploaded previously this year. Click here to access your account via the SSS Family Portal. Each parent, regardless of custodial arrangements, must complete a PFS. Exceptions to this policy can be made in certain situations. If you are a single parent and need to request a waiver of a second parent’s information, please complete this form, notarize it, and submit it to Admissions & Financial Assistance Officer Kristin Wold at kwold@gallowayschool.org.
  3. Applications and complete 2018 tax returns are due November 18, 2019.  Please submit your PFS (Parents’ Financial Statement) via SSS. We will be using 2018 tax documents to determine financial assistance for the 2020-21 academic year. We will be able to access your 2018 tax return from last year’s application, however, when filling out the new PFS for this year, if you have not uploaded your 2018 return and all associated schedules and W-2s, you must do so in order to be considered for financial assistance. Please upload these documents directly to SSS.  Do not send any documents directly to the Office of Financial Assistance at Galloway.
  4. As this is a transition year, please use your 2018 tax data when filling out items 6-9 under Family Income on the Parents’ Financial Statement - this will match the information that you entered last year. For the remaining items 1-5 and 10-21 on PFS, please use current information.
  5. Awards will be available on February 3, 2020 along with your re-enrollment contract. Enrollment Agreements will be due February 14, 2020. The invitation to re-enroll for the 2020-2021 academic year is only made to those families who are current with all tuition and fee payment obligations, and in the absence of an academic-based hold. Parents/legal guardians must sign the Agreement and submit the required non-refundable deposit based on the percentage of financial assistance granted as listed in your contract.
