Galloway Announces Director of the Arts

Galloway is thrilled to share the appointment of Natalie Pitchford as Galloway’s next Director of the Arts, effective July 1, 2022. While we have had the pleasure of seeing Natalie in action as the ML and UL chorus teacher, it is exciting to be able to announce this new leadership role for her. Natalie’s expertise, combined with her focused leadership approach and passion for fine arts, made her a natural choice for this crucial role at Galloway.

Natalie’s education and career in the arts have been deep and varied, which has given her a vast array of skills that have readied her for this important position. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Music Theater from Elon University and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Prior to joining the Galloway community in the fall of 2020, she served as the Director of the Lovett Conservatory of Music. Prior to her arrival in Atlanta, she was an instructor at Illinois Wesleyan University and also the Director of Worship Arts Ministry for a large church in Bloomington, IL.

Natalie has also directed or served as the music director for over 20 musicals and has worked with students from every level and artists from every discipline. Her considerable knowledge and understanding of the position and her interpersonal skills were just a few of the things that immediately endeared her to our community. Her previous supervisors have praised her as a gifted artist and a visionary leader, as evidenced by her years of service on arts executive boards and the city of Smyrna’s Arts and Culture Task Force.

Upon accepting the job, Natalie said, “I am thrilled to accept the position of Director of the Arts. Since coming to Galloway two years ago, I have been blown away by our Fine Arts community and the school at large. With a world-class faculty, truly unique curriculum, and the most creative students in Atlanta, I know we have something special. As Director, my goal is to continue to build on the excellence already instilled in our arts department - the best-kept secret in Atlanta independent schools. With our school-wide strategic goal of establishing Galloway as a leader in its field, I know we have the potential to be a model institution in the world of arts education as well.”

We are confident that Natalie has the extraordinary vision to lead our Arts Department into the future. Please join us in congratulating her on this important new role!
