English Students Collaborate with Shakespeare Tavern

After reading Romeo and Juliet, our ninth grade English students have been working closely with professional actors from Shakespeare Tavern's educational department to prepare for their final project in which groups of students will perform an act of the play. Each class has chosen a theme for their production like Keeping Up with the Capulets, as well as a company name. Students have memorized up to 25 lines using the Tavern's abbreviated scripts and have chosen their on-campus scene locations; soon they will be bringing in props and costumes for their final projects.

On Monday, December 9, students enjoyed a performance from the Shakespeare Tavern in the Chaddick Theatre. After the play's ending, the actors debriefed with the students and answered questions about the abbreviated scripts.

We are looking forward to seeing our students' performances!
