EL Students Participate in First Odyssey of the Mind Tournament

Coached by Galloway parents Bonnie Szikman and Megan Giannetti, Galloway's first Odyssey of the Mind team consists of seven students from K - 2nd grade. The students worked for many months to prepare for the tournament.

Odyssey of the Mind teams collaborate to create a solution to an open-ended, long-term problem and demonstrate their solution with a performance and also practice thinking on their feet by solving a spontaneous problem.

The long-term problem that students participated in this year was called Dinos on Parade. The team had to create three dinosaurs: a dinosaur in costume, create a new dinosaur, and make an artistic representation of a dinosaur. The solution also needed to incorporate a paleontologist character, a musical instrument created by the team, a band leader, and a parade.  This all culminated in a performance that must tell a story while incorporating all of the pieces the kids have created.

Galloway’s OM team presented their solution with a fantastic performance during the tournament earlier this month in Flowery Branch, Georgia. Congratulations to Harper B. ‘35, Owen G. ‘35, Zoe J. ‘35, Betty Drake C. ‘34, Ava S. ‘34, Sienna A. ‘33, and Eliana G. ‘33 on a great performance!
