Charlie Garroway Named STAR Student

Congratulations to Galloway's STAR student, Charlie Garroway! We are so proud of this Scot, who will be attending the University of Chicago in the fall. Charlie selected UL English teacher Chris Curtis as his STAR Teacher.

As a lifer at Galloway, Charlie has performed in the orchestra; participated in Debate, Mock Trial and the championship-winning Academic Team; and served as a member of Young Democrats, Tea Club, and Political Activism Club. Off-campus, Charlie volunteered with the Red Cross, served as a Shea Roberts Digital Campaign Fellow, and interned with Jenna Wadsworth, a candidate for the North Carolina Commissioner of Agriculture.

Earlier this spring, Charlie was named a National Merit Finalist, and he will be receiving the University of Chicago National Merit Scholarship.

The PAGE STAR program honors Georgia’s highest achieving high school seniors and the teachers who have been most instrumental in their academic development. Since its creation in 1958 by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, the STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) program has honored nearly 28,000 students, who have in turn chosen their STAR Teachers to share in this recognition.
