Amir Farokhi
Head of School

Welcome!
I am excited that you are here to learn more about our school and our community. From 1983-1996, I grew up here as a student. It was a formative and magical education. I loved coming to school every day. Today, as it has been since 1969, we continue to endeavor to make that a reality for every child here.
At heart, Galloway is a school with two core values: the joy of learning is very important, and hard work is very important. These values, which may seem in tension, coexist at Galloway because our teachers are experts in meeting students where they are, nurturing a child’s natural instinct to be curious, and encouraging the pursuit of excellence in whatever topics or activities a child may find interesting.
We are not a cookie-cutter school. We go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that every child is seen. Founded as a school for progressive education, we believe that children learn best when they are drawn – not forced – to do so; when they learn by doing; and when they are respected, trusted, and heard.
With high expectations, we encourage our students to discover who they are. Because of that, our campus is highlighted by students who are comfortable and happy at school. When I walk across campus, the energy and laughter of our children make my heart sing. I invite you to come experience it for yourself.
Our graduates go to colleges across the country (and globe) and into careers as artists, athletes, politicians, physicians, entrepreneurs, lawyers, non-profit leaders, and teachers. More importantly, they are lifelong learners with respect for others and comfort with complexity, who lead lives of continual growth and inquiry.
We love our school, students, and families. Our community is a model of what education can be. I look forward to your visit.
Sincerely,
