The Teacher Institute provides the course work and field experiences necessary for teachers to obtain initial certification from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GAPSC). Course work in this program also may be appropriate for veteran teachers seeking certificate renewal.
A Unique Approach to Initial Certification
Through The Teacher Institute, students can complete their teacher preparation course work and assessment requirements (GACE Content Assessment) while maintaining employment.
The Institute is a collaborative effort of The Galloway School and North Georgia College & State University. Highly effective classroom teachers and NGCSU School of Education faculty are the instructors for the Institute. Delivered through team and shared teaching formats, The Teacher Institute has a strong theoretical base and an extensive compendium of craft knowledge upon which teachers can develop their expertise. In addition, each student is assigned an on-site mentor teacher to provide essential guidance and support throughout the school year. The Teacher Institute is delivered primarily at The Galloway School.
