Arts

Art surfaces in surprising ways, allowing students to move beyond discovering their creativity to mastering the nuances of artistic expression.

Early Learning students work with music and art specialists each week, and in their last year they learn to play the recorder. Starting at the second-grade level, students perform in choral concerts each year. Drama, music, and art presentations often take place within individual classrooms.

Middle Learning students all participate in regular art classes and music classes (band, strings, or chorus). They may also choose drama as an exploratory and participate after school in the ML musical. Numerous fine arts electives are also offered, such as Art Through the Ages, Essentials of Music Theory, and Dance.

Upper Learning students choose from band, strings and choral classes, a variety of visual arts classes, technical theater, and Theatre Company. Each year, the drama department participates in the GHSA One-Act Play competition and produces a musical in the spring for the general enjoyment of the community. Additional courses considered for fine arts credit include dance, photography, and technology courses such as animation, digital film, and computer graphics.
